Laura Sandoval - President and Founder
Laura is the President and Founder of Lucha Latina, Inc. She graduated in May 2015 from the University of Florida as a first generation college student. Laura currently lives in Philadelphia, PA as a Shopper Marketing Planner. She is of Peruvian descent and in her spare time enjoys traveling, trying new restaurants, reading, and listening to podcasts. Her passions/loves include Latinx community advocacy, multicultural marketing, ethnic foods, and dogs of all breeds.
Jennifer Rodriguez - Vice President
Jennifer is the Vice President of Lucha Latina, Inc. She graduated from the University of Florida in 2013 and recently completed her Master of Public Health from Nova Southeastern. Being a first-generation student, her passion for Lucha Latina stems from her desire to support young women as they navigate through college. On her down-time, she enjoys brunching her way through South Florida, discovering new books, and learning about her Latina roots any way she can!
Daniela Prizont-Cado - Director of Social Media & Branding
Daniela Prizont-Cado is our social media and brand management director. She graduated from the University of Florida in May of 2017 and currently resides in Miami, Florida. She is of Mexican and Argentinean descent. In her spare time she loves to read, write, and perform. She dreams of traveling all over the world someday and uncover hard-hitting news stories in hopes of being a voice for others.
Lucía Curihuamán - Director of Creative & Design Strategy
Lucía brings the ~ aesthetic ~ to Lucha Latina. As our Creative Director, she has been responsible for building our brand and providing us with original digital and marketing material. She is of Peruvian-Chinese descent and is currently pursuing a doctor of pharmacy degree at the University of Florida. Her interests include going to as many music shows as possible, sweating at the gym, capturing moments, and exploring the world. She strives to find inspiration everywhere!
Brenda Hernandez - Director of Collegiate Expansion
Brenda is the College Expansion Director for Lucha Latina Inc. She is of Mexican descent and was raised in Homestead, FL to a family of migrant farmworkers. Brenda recently graduated from the University of Florida as a first generation student and Machen Florida Opportunity Scholar. She currently works as a Legal Assistant and Marketer for Torres Law Firm, P.A. During her free time, Brenda listens to podcasts, reads the news, and volunteers for local organizations that advocate for the Hispanic-Latinx community.
Valerie De La Rosa - Director of Production Development
As Head of Production Development at Lucha Latina, Valerie is responsible for creating short films for Lucha Latina's social media outlets. She is currently a junior at St. John's University and pursuing her major in TV and film. She is of Peruvian-Colombian descent and resides in Queens, NY. In her free time, Valerie enjoys traveling, playing with her dog, and watching movies.
Kelvin Medina - Director of Digital Strategy & Analytics
While Kelvin's professional soccer player dreams are postponed, he leads all analytics and tech projects for us! He is currently a Digital Account Coordinator for Zimmerman Advertising and manages multiple campaigns for Nissan. His passion for Lucha Latina is fueled by the need to take action in our modern society and to give an opportunity to those who might not normally have one. In his free time, he loves to study classical music, watch and play sports, and plan his next travel adventure!
Rhina Maylin Lara - Director of Mentorship & Development
Rhina Maylin Lara is our Director of Mentorship & Development! Rhina is a Dominican from Miami, Florida. She recently graduated from the University of Florida with a major in English and a minor in health disparities. She is currently a Consultant at American Traveler Staffing Professionals, a health care staffing company. Rhina wanted to be part of the Lucha Latina team because she "believes minority women have the power to change the world." Jackson Palmer-Kern - Director of Finance & Fundraising
Jackson graduated from the University of Minnesota in May of 2015. He currently works as a Financial Analyst for General Mills in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Jackson first got involved with various Latinx advocacy groups through his studies as a Spanish minor in college. Some fun facts? In his spare time he enjoys playing hockey, hanging out with his dog Vern and brewery-hopping in the Twin Cities.
Yai Vargas - Board Member
Yai Vargas is the founder of The Latinista, a national network of women and Latina professionals invested in professional development and career mobility. Today The Latinista offers a series of skill-building, activity driven, hands-on sessions, specifically designed to help identify and sharpen career and business skills required to achieve your ultimate goals. The Latinista has chapters in New York City, Chicago and Miami. We are very excited to have her as our first board member and learn so much from her!
